A NEW YEARS RACING STARTS

posted by Antoinette Pottow at  7:22 || under General

Before I could blink an eye, 2010 was upon us! For some reason I am still caught up in the 2009 season…yeah, between Namibia, the final night race and practice rounds during the X-mast holidays it just never ended for The Mom. But here we are, and the first Regional is now almost history.

Just joking – the exhilarating sound of 42 Quads competing in Round 1 of the Northern Region Quad MX and 84 Two-Wheelers in the support classes in the pits and on the start line is still as vivid as just a few days ago. I am sure our 2-Wheeler co-riders will pardon me for dedicating my first write up for 2010 on the fantastic kick-off of the Quad season.
What a sight it was to see twelve Pro 450 riders on the start line. We have not seen Kyle-James Holburn and Chad Arnold in action ...

NAMIBIA 2009

posted by Antoinette Pottow at  0:00 || under General

4h00am on Tuesday 3 November the excitement could not be contained anymore. With all the quads on the trailers, "padkos” in the cooler and lots of extra tyres and spares, we started our long journey to Walvisbay/Swakopmund.
Friendly officials at the RSA and Botswana border posts made our entry into Botswana hassle free.  With a long stretch of "nothing” through Botswana I could feel the anticipation in the car. Although a lot of people warned us about stray animals on the road, I could not help to think how so little evidence of car accidents is left along the Trans Kalahari "highway”. Donkeys, cattle, the occasional ostrich and more donkeys made our approach to the Namibian border a slow one. The sun was setting quickly and a bit of rain caught us on the road. We managed to reach the Namibian border at about 09h00pm. Very tired and bushed after ...

DIRT BRONCO QUAD MX CHAMPS

posted by mxmomma at  9:01 || under General

Congratulations to our Dirt Bronco Quad MX Northern Region Champions. The Quad MX season for the Northern Region ended on a high note when our riders took part in the 7th and final round at ERORA this past weekend. Although the championship was concluded on the flat track, I can assure you that the competition was still tight to the end.
In the Pro450 class, Juan Coetzee was leading the championship by two points over Boesman Struwig after the first heat, which meant Juan had to win the last and final heat to clinch the championship. The second heat brought a huge surprise when Lee Vorster raced like a bullet. After getting the hole shot, Lee lead the race from the word go and finished in first place like a true champion. Well done Lee! If I had to pick a “Rider of the Day” it would most certainly have ...

NIGHT RACE 5 SEPTEMBER 2009

posted by mxmomma at  2:29 || under Race Days at Bronco

Night Race – 5 September 2009

I might get stoned for this but I am of the opinion that night racing is here to stay! With 90 odd entries and that just a week before both the Quad MX National/Regional and the Two-Wheeler MX Regional, it was rather heart warming to see so many entrants and spectators out on the track. At some point in time the image of cars parked around the track reminded me of "back in the day" when my Dad took us to Club Rugby events and everybody parked their cars around the playing field for the best possible view. With the DJ rocking, the V-Girls showing leg and flashing neon lights the scene was set for a spectacular event! Salute to Christo and Team, to the numerous sponsors, the TV crew and everybody else that made this unforgettable event possible.

As promised a couple ...

WOZA SUMMER

posted by mxmomma at  7:51 || under General

Woza Summer! Man, am I for one glad that the summer is here. Good to see that a couple of our race mates also came out of hibernation… Wednesday night at Bronco rocked! I you were there you will know what I am talking about.
If you are still in two minds about this Saturday’s race, please talk to somebody that was at the track on Wednesday. The DJ was there for a “test” run and I can guarantee that the entertainment will be of superb quality. Our (by now famous to all) cook gave us a pre-taste of some of the items on the menu for Saturday…yummie… hammies, curry-and-rice, slap tjips… the whole treat will be available at very reasonable prices.
I am off for nice massage sessions first thing in the morning… remember, eat dirt and bleed gasoline!
Ps… Tristan…glad to see you back on the track. Take ...
